From Lawmaker to Scholar: Hon. Nyampa Earns PhD in L’ship at Federal University Lokoja

By Tom Garba, Yola

In a moment brimming with pride and jubilation, Hon. Nyampa Dauda Zakaria, the dynamic lawmaker representing Madagali/Michika Federal Constituency, was conferred a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Leadership and Strategic Studies at the Federal University Lokoja’s 9th Convocation Ceremony on Saturday.

The achievement, celebrated under the sunlit canopy of the university’s auditorium, marked a personal triumph for Zakaria and a beacon of inspiration for his constituents in Adamawa State.

What elevated the occasion to a spectacle of camaraderie and prestige was Zakaria’s cohort of distinguished classmates.

Among them were Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, and Hon. Desmond Elliot, the Nollywood icon turned lawmaker in the Lagos State House of Assembly.

Together, this trio of trailblazers, alongside other scholars, showcased a rare blend of public service and academic rigor, earning applause from an audience that included academics, dignitaries, and proud families.

“This is not just a degree; it’s a testament to the power of lifelong learning,” Zakaria said, clutching his certificate as he addressed a small crowd of well-wishers post-ceremony.

“Leadership isn’t static; it demands growth, reflection, and a heart for service. I dedicate this to the resilient people of Madagali and Michika, who inspire me daily.”

Zakaria’s journey to this milestone was no small feat. Balancing the demands of legislative duties with the rigors of doctoral research, he immersed himself in the study of leadership and strategic studies a field that resonates deeply with his role as a federal lawmaker.

Known for his vocal advocacy on security and development in his insurgency-ravaged constituency, Zakaria’s dissertation, which sources say explored adaptive leadership in crisis-prone regions, is already generating buzz among policy wonks.

The Federal University Lokoja, now a growing hub for leadership scholarship, lauded Zakaria and his cohort for their contributions to knowledge.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Olayemi Akinwumi, in his convocation address, hailed the graduating class as “torchbearers who will shape Nigeria’s future with intellect and integrity.”

For Zakaria, sharing the stage with figures like Adeniyi, whose reforms have revitalized the Customs Service, and Elliot, a cultural force turned political bridge-builder, underscored the program’s prestige.

In Madagali and Michika, where communities still grapple with the scars of Boko Haram’s violence, the news sparked waves of celebration.

Zakaria’s academic ascent adds to his reputation as a leader who walks the talk. Since his election in 2019, he has championed infrastructure projects, youth empowerment, and peace-building initiatives in his constituency, often navigating the delicate balance of representing a region battered by insecurity.

REBUTTING BASELESS ALLEGATIONS: A RESPONSE TO UNFOUNDED CLAIMS

REBUTTING BASELESS ALLEGATIONS: A RESPONSE TO UNFOUNDED CLAIMS

By Comrade Musa Mohammed Moonlight

I am compelled to respond to the malicious and unfounded allegations which was written by the ghostwriter SALEH SALISU SAMINAKA, against Governor Uba Sani entitled “HOW GOVERNOR UBA SANI IS STRANGLING LOCAL GOVERNMENTS AND LOOTING THE STATE BLIND’.

These claims of looting local government funds are nothing but a desperate attempt to deflect attention from El-Rufai’s own administration’s financial mismanagement and corruption.

Facts Over Fiction.

The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Kaduna State chapter, has repeatedly dismissed claims of financial irregularities, praising Governor Sani’s administration for transparency and accountability in local government fund management.

A thorough examination of the state’s finances and projects would reveal the falsehood of these allegations, showcasing instead the governor’s commitment to prudent financial management and development.

Evidence, Please.

I challenge Saleh Salisu Saminaka (the Ghostwriter), to provide concrete evidence supporting his claims, If there’s any truth to these allegations, let it be presented to the public.

A Pattern of Politics.

These baseless allegations reek of political opportunism. The Ghostwriter should know that the, former kaduna state governor, Nasiru El-Rufai’s track record of financial mismanagement and corruption during his tenure as governor is well-documented. The Kaduna State House of Assembly has even constituted a committee to investigate financial transactions, loans, grants, and projects executed during his administration.

Conclusion.

Governor Uba Sani’s administration remains committed to transparency, accountability, and the development of Kaduna State. We urge the public to see these allegations for what they are – a smokescreen for El-Rufai’s own failures and a desperate bid for relevance.

Let’s focus on the real issues facing our state and work towards a brighter future, rather than getting bogged down in baseless allegations and political mudslinging.

At the ongoing World Ports Conference in Kobe-Japan, Port professionals drawn from 64 Countries have endorsed the election of the Managing Director Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho as Vice-President of the International Association for Ports & Harbours (IAPH).

Coming on the heels of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s approval of the National Policy on Marine & Blue Economy,
Dantsoho’s election as Vice-President of the IAPH is a testament of Nigeria’s growing influence in the comity of Maritime nations.

Free Nnamdi Kanu Protest: Group Warns IPOB, Sowore Against Attack on Government Buildings

Free Nnamdi Kanu Protest: Group Warns IPOB, Sowore Against Attack on Government Buildings

… Insist Hoodlums Could Hijack it, Unleash Terror on Citizens

The Progressives Unity and Development Forum (PUDF) has cautioned the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and rights activist, Omoyele Sowore against the planned nationwide protest aimed at pressuring the Federal Government to release the detained IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

Sowore had earlier reaffirmed that the planned #FreeNnamdiKanuNow march to the Aso Rock Villa would hold on October 20, describing the date as “sacrosanct.”

In a statement shared on his official social media page, Sowore said preparations were ongoing for what he called a “peaceful march” to demand Kanu’s immediate release.

However, the PUDF, in a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Mr. Abraham Nwanchukwu, and made available to journalists today, the group expressed concern that the protest could be hijacked by hoodlums and political opportunists who might use the event to unleash violence and attack government buildings.

“Sowore should be told now, before the D-day, that similar protests in the past spiraled out of control, with hoodlums taking advantage to loot and destroy public and private properties,” the statement read in part.

The group cited previous incidents in Kano, Kaduna, and Lagos, where peaceful demonstrations turned violent and resulted in the destruction of public infrastructure.

“Against this background, we are calling on IPOB, Sowore, and other supporters of the planned protest to shelve the action and adopt more civic and responsible means of engagement,” the statement added.

“Nobody has a monopoly of violence, and we are issuing this warning to prevent any action that could provoke counter-reactions or endanger national peace.”

The group urged security agencies to remain vigilant and appealed to Nigerians to avoid being used by those “seeking to destabilize the country under the guise of activism.”

Kaduna PDP secretary, Saidu Adamu dumps Party

Kaduna PDP secretary, Saidu Adamu dumps Party

By Comrade Musa Mohammed

KADUNA: The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State has Monday suffered yet suffered devastating blow as its state Secretary, Rt. Hon. Saidu Adamu, has tendered his resignation from both his position and membership of the party.

His exit underscores the intensifying internal crisis, bitter factionalism, and the collapse of internal democracy threatening to tear the party apart.

In a strongly-worded resignation letter dated October 13, 2025, and addressed to the PDP State Chairman, Saidu Adamu declared that the PDP had strayed too far from the values and vision he once embraced, making it impossible for him to continue serving with integrity.

The kaduna politician, a former member in Kaduna house of Assembly, former 4 times commissioner of information in Kaduna State, lamented the party’s unending leadership tussles, worsening factional divisions, and the exodus of its most experienced members many of whom have defected to All Progressive Congress (APC).

Saidu Adamu minced no words in describing the PDP’s descent into chaos. “The persistent crises within our party, the erosion of internal democracy, and the glaring factionalization have crippled our unity, destroyed trust, and rendered meaningful political engagement impossible,” he stated.

According to him, the situation has reached a point where “long-standing party stalwarts are fleeing in droves,” leaving the PDP in Kaduna increasingly weakened and unable to inspire confidence among its supporters.

He revealed that his decision to quit followed deep consultations with family, associates, and political allies who shared his concern over the party’s worsening trajectory. “I have an earnest desire to operate in a political environment that upholds fairness, values loyalty, and promotes genuine service to the people of Kaduna State,” Isa said.

While expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve, Saidu Adamu stressed that the PDP’s current state made his continued membership untenable. His departure, he noted, was not out of personal ambition but a principled stance against a party culture that has become toxic and counterproductive.

Political observers say Saidu Adamu’s exit is part of a broader pattern of high-profile resignations rocking the PDP in Kaduna. recently, the party has witnessed the loss of several strategic figures, eroding its grassroots structure and weakening its electoral base ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The development has deepened fears that the PDP may be heading for an irreversible implosion in Kaduna unless urgent reconciliation efforts are made. However, insiders say entrenched rivalries and personal ambitions within the leadership have made such efforts unlikely to succeed.

With Saidu Adamu’s resignation, the kaduna PDP is now facing mounting public perception of a party in freefall beleaguered by mistrust, crippled by disunity, and losing the political relevance it once enjoyed in the state.

For many party faithful, the message from Saidu Adamu’s departure is loud and clear: the PDP in Kaduna is at a dangerous crossroads, and unless its leaders abandon selfish politics for collective interest, the party’s future in the state may be effectively sealed.

A Note of Disappointment and Concern on the Presidential Pardon- RMNN

A Note of Disappointment and Concern on the Presidential Pardon- RMNN

For Immediate Release

Date: October 12, 2025

Issued by: Rescue Movement for New Nigeria (RMNN)

The Rescue Movement for New Nigeria expresses deep disappointment and grave concern over the recent decision by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to grant presidential pardon to individuals convicted of serious crimes—including drug trafficking, terrorism, murder, and acts of betrayal against the Nigerian state.

While this action may have been presented as an act of mercy or reconciliation, it poses a serious threat to national security, public trust, and the moral integrity of our nation.

Releasing individuals who have demonstrated blatant disregard for human life and the rule of law risks undoing years of progress toward peace, justice, and accountability. It sends a dangerous signal that grave offenses can be easily forgiven without due consideration for victims, national safety, or justice.

This decision not only emboldens criminal networks but also demoralizes security personnel who continue to risk their lives daily in defense of the nation. Moreover, it dishonors the memory and suffering of innocent Nigerians who have fallen victim to the very crimes for which these offenders were convicted.

Mercy must never come at the expense of justice or public safety. Leadership demands compassion balanced with accountability—to protect the innocent, uphold the law, and preserve the nation’s moral foundation.

Although the Constitution empowers the President to exercise the prerogative of mercy, such discretion must be guided by fairness, transparency, and national interest. Granting clemency to those whose actions have endangered lives and undermined public trust raises profound concerns about governance and justice.

We therefore call on the Federal Government to review the criteria and transparency of the clemency process, ensuring that future decisions are aligned with justice, national security, and the collective will of the Nigerian people.

Forgiveness and reconciliation are noble virtues, but they must never come at the cost of justice and accountability. The strength of any democracy rests on its commitment to the rule of law and the sanctity of human life.

Issued in the interest of national peace, justice, and good governance in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The Nation Deserves Better.

SIGNED:

His Excellency, Faduri Oluwadare Joseph (Fadojoe), Leader, Rescue Movement For New Nigeria aka ,Rescue The Vulnerable Initiative and former Labour Party Presidential Aspirant

The Pardon Puzzle: Why DCP Abba Kyari’s Exclusion Raises Questions

The Pardon Puzzle: Why DCP Abba Kyari’s Exclusion Raises Questions.

By Comrade Musa Mohammed Moonlight

The recent presidential pardon granted to 175 convicts and former convicts has sparked controversy, with many Nigerians questioning the exclusion of suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari. Despite his current legal challenges, Kyari’s contributions to national security and his expertise in combating crime and terrorism are undeniable.

A Matter of Justice and Fairness.

Many have argued that Kyari’s exclusion from the pardon list raises questions about justice and fairness. If the purpose of the pardon is to show mercy and rehabilitation, why was Kyari left out? His case has sparked a national debate, with many calling for his inclusion in the pardon list.

National Security Implications.

Kyari’s expertise in counter-terrorism and intelligence gathering would be invaluable in the ongoing fight against insecurity. His exclusion could potentially deprive the nation of a valuable asset in the battle against crime. The question remains: what message does this send to the public and the international community about Nigeria’s commitment to national security?

A Call for Reconsideration.

As the President considers future pardons and clemency, it is essential to weigh the implications of such decisions on national security, justice, and fairness. The nation needs to utilize all available resources, including experienced personnel like DCP Kyari, to address the pressing security challenges.

In the interest of justice, fairness, and national security, it is worth reconsidering DCP Kyari’s case and exploring options for his inclusion in future pardons or clemency. The nation deserves a comprehensive approach to addressing insecurity, and leveraging the expertise of seasoned professionals like Kyari could be a step in the right direction.
