Kaduna elections  Tribunal 2023: False claims and viral videos debunked

The attention of the All Progressive Congress (APC) New Media Forum, kaduna state chapter has been drawn to a frivolous, mischievous, false and highly embarrassing fake and misleading video making the rounds on social media, which shared by PDP and Isa Ashiru Kudan supporters  showing that INEC’s officials were caught thump printing ballot papers in other to favour APC and Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna state in the election tribunal seating in Kaduna, are false and fabricated by influencers on social media.

It’s unfortunate, that the unscrupulous politicians has gone ahead with fake, misleading video and posted on social media.

The APC (NEW MEDIA FORUM) hereby refutes this video that has been viral in Social media as frivolous, mischievous and totally false.

Social media in Nigeria has been a major source of disinformation and misinformation.

One disinformation trend was the sharing of videos purporting to show ballot-stuffing by INEC’s officials in Kaduna recently.

They could not establish where the videos were recorded.

We all know that the ballots shown in at least one of these viral videos were not real.

The APC NEW MEDIA FORUM Kaduna state chapter, hereby advised the general public to disregard this virulent false, fake, embarrassing and misleading video.

It’s the work of mischief makers, detractors and enemies of the APC and kaduna state, they must realize that their campaign of calumny against Senator Uba Sani the executive Governor of Kaduna state has failed.

APC and Governor Uba Sani’s administration will remains a spectacular success story and nothing can change all the evidence of dramatic progress and development of our great party in the past and present.

Uba Sani: A Professional Politician In The Saddle

Uba Sani: A Professional Politician In The Saddle

BY COMRADE MUSA MOHAMMED

‘On my own opinion and observation is, the reasons why many who delve into politics and governance in Nigeria fail is because they are not professional politicians’.

Senator Uba Sani, a former lawmaker who represent kaduna Central senatorial district of Kaduna State from 2019 to 2023, is not a newcomer in the nigeria politcs.

His Excellency Senator Uba Sani’s selling point is not his past romance with the highest office in Kaduna State.
What goads him on is his longstanding involvement in politics.

The former lawmaker prides himself on being a professional politician. He savours his wide spectrum of experience in politics, a quality that many politicians in Kaduna and Nigeria are bereft of. For Sen. Uba Sani, one of the reasons why many who delve into politics and governance in Nigeria fail is because they are not professional politicians.

He readily reminds us that our politics is peopled by gatecrashers who, ordinarily, should not be in politics.

Being not grounded in the science and art of politics, many who cross over from other professions such as the military, bookkeeping, farming, teaching, and the like get lost in the mix.

Uba Sani become such a professional politician that is very much sought after? A casual encounter with him will readily tell the story. His journey into the murky terrain of politics dates back to 2003, when he contested the seat of house of representative.
Since then, he has remained in politics, traversing the political landscape with assured steps.

He has been contesting election to the National Assembly in the recent years, he won the Senate Election in 2019, a position that elevated him among the pack.

He has been climb to the ultimate political height in Nigerian politics.

Beyond these, he has some other political credentials that eminently qualify him as a professional in this field of human endeavour.

Senator Uba Sani’s name is now well known in Nigerian politics, he is like a goldfish. He has no hiding place.

‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road’: Elton John Bids Goodbye — After Record-Breaking Ticket Sales On Exit Tour

Legendary musician, performer and activist Sir Elton John will play his last show on the Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour in Sweden Saturday, marking the end to his career and the five-year-long tour that now holds the record for the most money ever made from ticket sales.

Elton John launched the Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour—-which was supposed to last three years but was delayed several times by the Covid pandemic and an injury—in 2018 in Allentown, Pennsylvania, before taking his performances to the White House, Glastonbury Festival and hundreds of other destinations for a total of 333 shows over five years.

The tour hit the $900 million ticket sale mark this week, Billboard reported, and is expected to gross another $30 million by the time all is said and done, putting it well ahead of the previous record holder: Ed Sheeran’s Divide Tour, which sold $776.4 million worth of tickets.

Billboard reports the record-breaking tour puts his career gross earnings at $1.928 billion, estimating he’ll be just shy of the $2 billion mark when all sales are reported. John, 76, told Entertainment Tonight he was retiring from touring to spend more time with his young sons, Zachary and Elijah, but also said he is not retiring from writing, recording and releasing music.

In May, John said at an Emmy promotion event in Los Angeles that he would not go on tour again after Farewell Yellow Brick Road, but may play “the odd show” in retirement.

While he “doesn’t jump on top of his piano anymore, or kick up both legs while pounding the keyboard,” The New York Times called his first Madison Square Garden stop on the tour “typically flamboyant” and “just right.”

Tinubu names Taiwo Oyedele chairman of tax reforms committee

Tinubu names Taiwo Oyedele chairman of tax reforms committee

Tinubu’s government wants to achieve a minimum of 18% tax-to-GDP ratio within the next three years.

The presidency announced on Friday, July 7, 2023 that the committee will figure out a framework to implement the government’s vision of a healthy and competitive business environment in Nigeria.

The committee will be responsible for the various aspects of tax law reform, fiscal policy design and coordination, harmonisation of taxes, and revenue administration.

Tinubu’s special adviser on revenue, Adelabu Adedeji, said the president desires a sound fiscal policy environment as only an effective taxation system in a functioning economy can help a government make impact.

He noted that Nigeria’s tax-to-GDP ratio is one of the lowest in the world and well below the African average. The presidential aide further noted that current key challenges include multiple taxes and revenue collection agencies, fragmented and complex tax system, low tax morale, high prevalence of tax evasion, high cost of revenue administration, lack of coordination between fiscal and economic policies, and poor accountability in the utilisation of tax revenue.

“While some incremental progress has been recorded over the years, the outcomes have not been transformative enough to change the narrative,” he said.

Adedeji said the committee’s work will help the government in its goal to achieve a minimum of 18% tax-to-GDP ratio within the next three years.

The members of the committee will be drawn from both the public and private sectors and chaired by Oyedele, an accomplished Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader at PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC).

Friday’s appointment was announced less than a day after President Tinubu signed four executive orders focused on taxation policies in the country.

Nigerian Bisexual Woman cries out: Harrowing Story of Violence, Rape and Discrimination

“Nigerian Bisexual Woman cries out: Harrowing Story of Violence, Rape and Discrimination”.

A lady from Effa village in Okpokwu Local government area of Ugbokolo Benue State, Joy Ebute, has appealed to government at all levels in the country to protect people of same sex relationship giving herself as a victim and example of what she described as community persecution, violence, discrimination and threat to life due to her sexual orientation.

Ebute, who is 23 years of age recounts her early struggles in life which according to her began as a teenager after realizing she was attracted to women, a reality that placed her at odds with Nigeria’s conservative society and strict anti-Lesbian laws, that criminalises same-sex relationships with possibly up to 14 years imprisonment.

According to her, the first major threat to her life came on January 10th, 2008 when she was gang-raped by men who accused her of being a lesbian.

Ebute recalled that harrowing moment when one of the rapists said “I will teach you a lesson today and after I am done, you’ll realize being with a man is more satisfying than with a woman”.

This sexual assault, she said, left her traumatized and resulted in being pregnant.

Her predicament worsened further, when she left Ugbokolo for Abuja. According to her, she was later attacked on account of her sexual identity at a birthday party in Gwarimpa, Abuja by a mob that accused her of ‘corrupting’ other girls. “I was beaten severely and sustained an ear infection from the assault. Instead of protecting me, the police arrested me and threatened prosecution unless I paid a bribe,” she recounted.

She recalled after the beating, one of the police officers identified simply as officer Yemi at the SARS office (where she was taken) requested from her the sum of N200,000 or be taken to court and risk being in jail for 14 years. She quoted him as saying “Look girl, go and bring N200,000 before we leave you, if not, na 14 years you dey go do for prison be that”.

Fearing for her life, Ebute fled to Lagos thereafter hoping for respite, yet she continued to face different levels of hostility, isolation and threats by not only people in the neighborhood but by law enforcement agents as well.

“I lived in constant fear. I had to disguise my identity and even got into relationships with men just to avoid suspicion she said.

“living in constant fear and harassment in Lagos was hell, I barely escaped with my life. Reporting to the police was not an option because the police and authorities arrest and harass same sex people instead of protecting them.

“I have been through immense trauma resulting from rape, physical violence and constant threats. I want to live in a place where I can heal and be myself without fear,” she said.

Rights groups and international organizations have repeatedly condemned Nigeria’s same sex posture, warning that they expose vulnerable individuals to violence and discrimination.
